Easily Add Texture to Your Cards

Do you know that you can easily add texture to your cards with a stamp set?  Yes you can, with the Touches of Texture stamp set.Choose from a variety of textures such as scattered dots, lace, smudges, and or mesh-like images. Depending on where you place the textures, your card is sure to stand out.

Easily Add texture

Recipe

Stamps: Touches of Texture, Rooted in Nature.

Ink:Soft Suede, Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green,Gray Granite, Memento Tuxedo Black.

Paper: Whisper White, Soft Suede, Poppy Parade.

Accessories: Linen Thread, Glitter Enamel Dots (Melon Mambo).

When adding texture with a stamp set, you can decide which colors you want to use, how much or how little stamping and which images to use. In fact, these types of stamp sets will make great collages too.

Easily add texture

Details:

  • For this card, I chose to use only 2 stamps to create the textured background.  Stamp the lace-looking stamp on the side of the Poppy Parade card base with Poppy Parade ink.  You may not be able to see the image, but it is there. Ink tHe scattered dots stamp with Soft Suede and randomly stamp on the Whisper White panel.
  • Stamp the leaves and stem in Granny Apple Green ink.
  • Stamp the flower line stamp in Poppy Parade, followed by the fuller flower stamp stamped in Poppy Parade.
  • Now, add in the detailed stamps. Stamp the dragonfly with Grey Granite ink, and the bee with Tuxedo Black ink.
  • To add even more texture, sponge the Whisper White panel with a sponge and Soft Suede ink.
  • Adhere the Whisper White panel to the Soft Suede panel and finally add this panel to the Poppy Parade panel.
  • Before attaching the above panel to the Whisper white card base, wrap Linen Thread around the panels and tie with a bow. To how the bow in place, add a glue dot under the knot.
  • Attach one of the Glitter Enamel Dots to the knot.  I used Melon Mambo, however, doesn’t clash with the Poppy Parade color.
  • Carry the texture through to the inside of the card by adding another stamp to provide the texture.

Easily add texture

Stampin’ Up has a variety of stamp sets for easily adding texture to your cards. Now, you can easily add texture to your greeting cards. In addition to the Touches of Texture, the sets include: Gallery Grunge, Timeless Textures and any of the background stamps such as the Burlap, Post Script or Tree Rings.

Use A Crate Vase To Display Your Flowers

Create a crate vase to display your flowers using the Wood Crate Framelits.  While you can create a 3-D crate, you can also use the crate framelit as a single dimensional die cut.

crate vase

Recipe

Stamps: Awesomely Artistic, Wood Words, Daisy Delight.

Ink/Marker: Whisper White Craft Ink, VersaMark, Tranquil Tide, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi.

Paper: Whisper White, Tranquil Tide, Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer, Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack, Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack, Vellum.

Accessories: Big Shot, Wood Crate Framelits, Bold Butterfly Framelits, Triple Banner Punch, White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, White Tea Lace Doily, 2017-2019 In Color Bitty Bows.

Put It Together

Use the crate framelit and cut the 1-Dimensional crate from a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack. Stamp the flowers using Whisper White Craft ink.  Remember to let the ink dry through before handling or the ink will smudge.  You can also use the Heat Tool to speed up the drying time.

Stamp the flowers from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set on Whisper White using VersaMark.  Sprinkle with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat with the Heat Tool.  Let, the embossing powder cool a bit and then color the flowers with the Daffodil Delight marker and the Wild Wasabi marker.  As a last step, fussy cut the flowers.

Attach 1/2 of a Tea Lace Doily to the top of the crate, layer the flowers behind the doily and attach all to the crate. Attach your art piece to a square of Tranquil tide.

To finish off your card, die cut a small butterfly from Sweet Sugarplum Glimmer Paper and attach to the crate. Attach one of the 2017-2019 In Color Bitty Bows below the Doily.  Finally, stamp the “Thank You” sentiment from the Daisy Delight stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink.  Punch the banner and attach to card using Mini Glue Dots.  Try to place the Glue Dots behind the ink so you can’t seem them from the front.

Wouldn’t this crate vase holding a cluster of flowers look cute sitting on someone’s’ mantel? Use your creativity to utilize your stamps and tools in other ways.

Washi Tape Feathers

Washi Tape Feathers – my goodness the things you can create with Washi Tape – who would have thought?  Not me, that’s for sure.

This card was inspired by Shelli Gardner, Stampin’ Up!’s esteemed leader.  She presented this card at the Leadership Conference in Orlando Florida in January.  While I wasn’t present at the event, there was live streaming of the event and I got to watch this creative technique.  You gotta love technology.

Washi Tape FeathersRecipe

Stamps: Work of Art, Gorgeous Grunge.

Ink/Markers: Lost Lagoon, Smokey Slate, Versa Mark.

Paper: Whisper White, Lost Lagoon, Silver Foil.

Accessories: Big Shot, Circles Collection Framelits (3rd smallest), 1-3/4” Circle Punch, 2” Circle Punch, All is Calm Washi Tape (retired), Whisper White Baker’s Twine, Lost Lagoon 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon, Silver Embossing Powder.

To create this card:

I used the Work of Art swoosh (hope that’s a word) and circle stamps.  The swoosh is stamped with Lost Lagoon.  The first swoosh is stamped off once and I stamped the other 2 swooshes without loading my stamp with ink. The circles were stamped in Smokey Slate and stamped off each time.

The sprinkle dots were stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge large splatter stamp inked with Soft Sky.  I did not stamp off the ink before stamping on the Whisper White.

Feathers:

Cut a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine double the length that you would like your feathers to be.  Fold the twine in half.

Lay down a strip of Washi Tape the length of the Baker’s Twine.  Cut another piece of Washi Tape the same length and lay the two pieces side by side overlapping a bit.

Lay the Baker’s Twine in the middle of the strip with the cut ends extending past the Washi Tape.  The folded end will now be shorter than the Baker’s Twine.

Cut 2 strips of Washi Tape and lay them over the bottom layers and the Baker’s Twine.

Round the tip of the feathers with you scissors and narrow the bottom.  Cut diagonal slits in your feathers without cutting into the Baker’s Twine.  Don’t forget to fluff them out.

Don’t be like me and cut the sides going the wrong way.  Which I did 2 times before finally getting it right…duh.

So now it’s your turn to create some Washi Feathers.

Grateful For You Fall Card All in a Box

I am grateful for you, my blog followers.  This card I am sharing today is from the stamp set For All Things and yes, it’s a card in a box.  This is the first card in a box that I have created.  I know that they have been out there for some time.  I guess I am just a little slow.

The original tutorials that I found created a larger card than the 5-1/2″ X 4-1/4″ size.  However I wanted to be able to put it into a standard size envelope, so had to do some modifications to the box base.

This was a fun card to make and I used it for my monthly card class.  The ladies were very pleased with the results.

I do love the Fall season with all its majestic colours of brilliant reds, oranges, yellows and purples.

The Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper came in very handily as I cut some of the leaves, acorns, and pine cones from the paper.  I did say to the ladies that they would either hate me for love me for making them fussy cut so many leaves.  However, the saving grace was that we did use the Big Shot and the Autumn Accents Bigz die to cut some of the leaves.

Grateful For You Fall Card

Grateful For You

Side View

Recipe

Stamps: For All Things.

Ink: Cajun Craze, Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede.

Paper: Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Soft Suede, Color Me Autumn DSP.

Accessories: Big Shot, Autumn Accents Die, Project Life Cards & Labels, Linen Thread, Gold Basic Buttons, Sponge Daubers.

I cut a number of leaves using the Autumn Accents die from the designer papers – the ones that look like watercolor and then sponged around them with a complimentary colored ink.  The sponging brought out the colour of the papers. The leaves and elements that were cut from the Blackberry Bliss colors added some pop.

I did CASE this card from someone on the internet, however, I am sorry that I have forgotten where I saw the card.

So once again I am grateful for you and your visits to my blog.  When you stop by, please leave me a comment.

Fall Thank You with Color Me Autumn Paper

Create a Fall Thank You with simplicity using the Color Me Autumn Designer Paper and the For All Things stamp set.  What could be easier?

Sometimes simple is best – Have you noticed the trend in paper crafting is going in that direction?  Not so many layers, not so many embellishments.  In this card it’s the message that stands out – a huge “THANK YOU!”

I was rather quiet last week and did not post often.  I was reorganizing myself after my Shop and Play Open House.

Thank you to all of you that came, saw the new products, and gave a try at the Blendabilities (aren’t they just great).  I appreciated all of you for attending.

Here is the Fall Thank You card that I have created to show my appreciation.

Fall Thank YouRecipe

Stamps: For All Things, Another Thank You, Hello Darling.

Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry, Soft Suede.

Paper: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Color Me Autumn DSP.

Accessories: Linen Thread.

The stamp set Another Thank You is a great set as there are many “thank you” sentiments in different fonts, different sizes and some embellishments.  This has become my go-to stamp set for Thank You cards.

The For All Things stamp set continues with the watermark theme and there are so many ways that this stamp set can be used.  How about using it as a Thanksgiving table decoration (yes, in Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October).

Another way to use this stamp set is to color the “hello” in the “hello fall” sentiment with a marker and decorate a tag for some Thanksgiving goodies.

What would you do with this stamp set.  Leave a comment and let me know.

Get going on your Fall Thank You
