A new suite in the Annual Catalogue is the Floral Essence. When you see the suite, you may think of a certain artist called Monet.  Now, I do not have a lot of artist knowledge  but I am familiar with Monet’s style and  I am drawn to it.  The designer series paper is part of the Perennial Essence Suite and it features watercolor images and backgrounds much like Monet’s painting.  When you touch the paper, you can feel a texture which adds to its beauty.

The whole suite is beautiful and when I saw it, of course, I had to have it.  To create a Mother’s Day card, I used a Double Fold Fancy Fold  the Floral Essence stamp set and the Perennial Essence Designer series paper. The  best part…YOU CAN ORDER THIS SUITE STARTING JUNE 4, 2019.

Stamp Set: FLoral Essence, Strong and Beautiful.

Ink: Rococo Rose, Mossy Meadow.

Paper: Rococo Rose, Whisper White, Old Olive, Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper.

Accessories: 3/8″ Metallic Edge Ribbon, Daffodil Stampin’ Blend Dark.

The fancy fold here, is called a Double Fold Card and it is easier to create than it looks.

Did you notice the yellow ribbon?  I do not have yellow metallic edge satin ribbon, so I set out to create my own.   I cut off the length of ribbon that I needed and colored it with the Dark Daffodil Stampin’ Blend.  Using the blends, you an change an color of ribbon to match your other papers and embellishments.

Tips to Create Greeting Card

• To create the background, swirl Pool Party reinker with water and then apply to Whisper White card stock with Aqua Painter.  Do not go over the area too many times or have too much water on your Aqua Painter. If you do,  the paper will start to pill.  On a scrap piece of Whisper White, do a cross-hatch with the Aqua Painter and Pool Party ink.  Set aside to dry. Stamp the bubble stamp over the background.
• Stamp the fish on Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black ink.  Die cut with the Big Shot.  Color the fish using Stampin’ Blends.  You can choose your own colors or use the same ones that I did. Use the Wink of Stella pen to add glimmer to the fish.
• On a piece of Watercolor Paper, do a cross-hatch using Cajun Craze and Old Olive ink.  Use the bulrushes and grasses die cut to cut the Vellum, Watercolor Paper and Whisper White.
• Die cut a circle with the Stitched Shapes Die Cuts.
• Attach the Watercolor paper behind the circle, attach the Vellum to the front and then the WHisper White grasses. Layer this on the background.  Attach the designer series paper to the card base, and then the art piece. Once the fish is colored, attach the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals. 
• Cut the fly from multi-colored paper.  This piece on my table and I used the oxide metal faux technique. It added a touch of whimsy to the cards.
• Stamp the sentiment on the front.

I know that I am a bit late with this post, but I wanted to share the packaging and especially a sneak peek of some new products that will be in the 2019-20 Stampin Up Annual Catalogue.

First, I will share the packaging with you.

Recipe for Packaging

Stamps Set: Fable Friends.

Ink: Memento Black Tuxedo.

Paper:Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper, Whisper White.

Accessories: Mini Gable Boxes, BIg Shot, Layering Ovals, Stitched Shapes, Stampin Blends: Dark Petal Pink, Light Soft Suede, Dark Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate Combo, Balmy Blue Combo,

These are so easy to put together.  

• Construct the box.
• Cut a strip of Designer Series Paper 2″ wide and the length you will need to wrap around the box and attach with adhesive.
• Stamp the bunny image from the Fable and Friends stamp set on Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.
• Color the bunny with Stampin Blends and die cut with Oval Stitched Shape die.
• Cut a larger oval from the Layering Oval Thinlits and attach the bunny oval.
• Attach the ovals to the front of the box.  The  ovals make the bunny image appear to be eggs.
• Fill the packaging with Easter Treats.

Now, it time to have a sneak peak at portions of the Bird Ballad Suite.  

Card Recipe

Stamp Set: Free as a Bird, Itty Bitty Greetings.

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Pool Party.

Paper: Pool Party, Very Vanilla.

Accessories: Bird Ballad Laser Cut Cards & Tin, Stitched Nested Labels Dies, Frosty and Clear Epoxy Droplets, Die Cutting Machine, Stampin Blends: Crumb Cake Duo, Pool Parry Duo, Color Lifter.

To Create The Easter Card:

• The Bird Ballad Laser Cut cards are beautiful and so elegant.  The cards feature a laser cut on the front. On the inside, a piece of Pool Party cardstock is attached to give a contrast to the Very Vanilla lace.
• Stamp the  bird on Whisper White card stock with Tuxedo Black ink. Color with Stampin’ Blends using the Color Lifter to lighten the ink to create highlights.
• Use Paper Snips to fussy cut the bird . I know, fussy cutting is probably not your favorite technique.
• Stamp the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock with Pool Party ink.
• Die cut with the Stitched Nested Label Dies.
• Die cut a larger label from the Stitched Nested Label Dies.  Attach the smaller label. Attach the sentiment  and the bird to the card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
• To finish off the card attach a Frosty Epoxy Droplet to the sentiment label.

It’s hard to see the stitching around the Flirty Flamingo and Whisper White cardstock, but it’s there. The Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies are a handy tool to have and it compliments so many of the framelits that you may already have. There is a set of 13 dies with the largest  die being 5-1/4″ x 3-7/8″, so there is enough sizes to work you magic . This set is in the 2019 Occasions Catalogue on page 28.

I started with the spring/summer feeling as winter is finally moving into spring and hopefully, summer will come bringing with it the beautiful flowers and butterflies.

The stamps are cling and have that Distinktive design which brings out the shading in the images. One thing to remember, don’t put too much ink on the stamp or you will lose the shaded designs.  A good way to limit the ink on your stamp, is to use a dauber and sponge the ink on the stamp.

Cardstock Cutting Measurements To Create the Gift

SeaFoam Card Base – 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″, score at 4-1/4″.

Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper – 5-1/4″ x 4″ – Grey Marbled Paper.

Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper – Filigree Floral Panel.

Whisper White for teapot, cup and flowers –  4″ x’ 7″.

Petal Pink: Scrap for sentiment.

Petal Pink/Whisper White 5/8″ Variegated Ribbon – 2 pieces at 4″ each.

Details to Put It All Together

• Stamp the teapot, cup, large flower and small roses with Powder Pink ink.  Stamp the roses 2xs. As this card was to be subtle, I didn’t want to use a harsher color ink such as the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
• Color the teapot, the cup and the flower with the Light Petal Pink, shading along the edges with the Dark Petal Pink.  Go back over the Dark Petal Pink with the Light Petal Pink to blend.  If you want more shading use the Color Lifter on portions of a the teapot and cup to give definition.  Color the leaves with Soft Seafoam, alternating the light and dark Blends.  Finally, color the small roses with the Daffodil Delight Duo Blends.
• Die cut the colored images with the Tea Time Framelit Dies.  Note: These framelit dies will only be available until March 31st, 2019 as they are part of Sale-a-Bration.
• Attach the marbled grey to the card base and the Filigree Floral Pane to the designer series paper. Click on the image to view this paper in my ONLINE STORE.

• Attach the teapot to the filigree panel with glue, lay 2 strips of the ribbon on a diagonal across the teapot.  Using glue attach the small flowers to the back of the large flower, and use mini dimensional to attach to cup.
• Mini Dimensionals are used to attach all to ribbon.
• Randomly attach the Petal Pink Pearls to the flower panel, the adhesive backed sequins to ribbon.  Place pearl jewels in the sequin cups.
• As a last step, stamp the sentiment on a piece of Petal Pink cardstock and die cut with the small label from the Stitched Labels Framelit Dies.

Last Words

Hoppy Together Birthday Card Recipe

Stamp: So Hoppy Together, Around the Corner.

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Coastal Cabana.

Paper: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Accessories: Big Shot, Hop Around Framelit Dies, Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies, Basic Adhesive Backed Sequins, Stampin” Blends: Bermuda Bay Duo, Old Olive Duo, Smoky Slate Duo, Poppy Parade Dark, Daffodil Delight Dark, Stamparatus.

Details:

• With the Stamparatuls, it is easy to stamp the “it’s your day” image in each of the corners.  Line up the stamp on your paper, ink up the stamp and stamp the image.  Now without taking the paper off the stamparatus, turn your paper 45 degrees, ink the stamp and stamp again.  Do this step 2 more times and you have an image in each corner.  How easy is that!!!!
• Stamp the frog, unicycle, bees and butterfly with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Whisper White cardstock. Color the images with your Stampin’ Blends. Stampin’ Write Markers , ink or Watercolor Pencils.  Stampin’ Up! has a variety of coloring methods and you will find the one you like and are most comfortable with.
• If you have the Hop Around Framelit Dies, use them to die cut the various images.
• Die cut the Bermuda Bay cardstock with the Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies.  Adhere your colored images to the Bermuda Bay panel.
• To finish off the card, attach the DSP to the card base and the Bermuda Bay panel to the DSP.  Place a few sequins on the front of the card and you’re done.
• Remember to give the card to someone who is celebrating an event.  It’s sure to bring a smile to their face.

Recipe for Beautiful Hummingbird Birthday Card

Stamps: Humming Along.

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Smoky Slate.

Paper: Whisper White, Flirty Flamingo, Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper.

Accessories: Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Hummingbird Framelits Dies, Well Written Framelits, Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder, Stampin’ Blends: Flirty Flamingo Duo, Calypso Coral Dual, Smoky Slate Light, Pool Party Duo, Old Olive Duo, Mossy Meadow Duo, Daffodil Delight Duo, Color Lifter.

Now that you have the list of supplies needed to create a beautiful hummingbird birthday card, let’s put it together.

 Details:

• Cut Whisper White cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and score at 4-1/4″
• The Black & White diagonal stripe piece from the Botanical Butterfly DSP is cut at 1-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ .
• Cut a second piece of Whisper White cardstock at 3″ x 5-1/2″.  Swipe the Smoky Slate ink across the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder.  Insert the Whisper White cardstock into the embossing folder and run through the Big Shot. This technique will give you a distressed look to the Whisper White background.
• Attach the diagonal stripe DSP to the left hand side of the cardbase and attach the embossed piece to the right-hand side of the card base overlapping the striped piece..
• Stamp the hummingbird and the flower on Whisper White with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Color with the Stampin’ Blends mentioned above.  Highlight and blend the colors to add interest to the your art pieces.  The Color Lifter is great for adding light to areas of your image.
•  Cut the Hummingbird and the flower with the framelits.  To add dimension to the flower, stamp another stamen, color and fussy cut with the Paper Snips.  Attach to the flower with Mini Dimensionals , and yes, you will likely need to cut them in half.
• Finally, die cut the words “happy” and “birthday” from Flirty Flamingo cardstock using the Well Written Framelits.  Attach all your elements to the card front and stamp some wishes inside the card.

Stamps: Home To Roost.

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Shaded Spruce, Soft Suede.

Paper: Soft Suede, Shaded Spruce, Whisper White.

Accessories: Big Shot DIe Cutting Machine, Dot to Dot Embossing Folder, Layered CIrcles Die Cuts, Stitched Shapes DIe Cuts, 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, Classic Label Punch, Chicken Wire Panel, Stampin’ Blends: Shaded Spruce Duo, Cajun Craze Duo, Stamparatus.

Details

• Use the Stamparatus along with the Hinge Technique to stamp the foliage on the Soft Suede cardstock.  Stamp the foliage in 2 steps, first across the top, remove the stamp, place further down the Stamparatus and stamp across again.
• To give this panel dimension, emboss the panel with the Dot to Dot Embossing Folder and Big Shot.
• Stamp the chicken in Tuxedo Black on Whisper White.  Color using various Stampin’ Blends, adding shading with the Color Lifter.
• Cut a scalloped circle using the Layered Circle Die Cuts, cut a circle with the chicken the focal point with the Stitched Shapes Die Cuts.  Choose the scalloped circle Die Cut that gives you a large border around the Whisper White circle.
• Wrap the Burlap ribbon around the embossed panel and attach to the Soft Suede card base.
• Attach the Whisper White circle to the Shaded Spruce, angle and adhere the chicken wire panel to the back of scalloped circle and attach all to the card front.
• Finally, stamp the “Just a Note” sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock.  Punch with Classic Label Punch, punch another piece from Soft Suede cardstock.  Cut in half and attach to either end of the the Whisper White.

 Recipe For Mother’s Day Card

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Poppy Parade, Lemon Lime Twist.

Paper: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Poppy Parade, Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper.

Accessories: Stampin’ Blends: Crumb Cake Duo, Poppy Parade Duo, Mango Melody Due, Daffodil Delight Duo, Balmy Blue Duo, Calypso Coral Duo,  Color Lifter,  Rhinestone Jewels. 

How To Details

Create this card with a minimum of pain. It’s a great quick card for Mother’s Day, and you may find the creating process to be somewhat relaxing.

• Mount a piece of the Needlepoint Nood Designer Series Paper. The one used for this card appears to be white stitching on Poppy Parade. Definitely a sign of spring .
• The Whisper White panel is punche with a decorative corner punch which has been discontinued. You can substitute the Detailed Trio Punch and use the rounded corner.
• Stamp the ducks in Tuxedo Black ink and color using various blends. When you color with blends you get to experiment with different colour and blending techniques. Of course, you can also use the Color Lifter to lighten your colors as can be seen in the rain hat brim.
• Finally, stamp the sentiment from the Strong & Beautiful stamp set on Whisper WHite with Poppy Parade ink. Cut the ends on a diagonal and mount to a piece of Poppy Parade to frame the sentiment.
• To add some bling, color 3 Rhinestone jewels with the Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends. Because the blends are alcohol markers, the color will not rub off. Using Blends to change the color of embellishments is a great way to match colors.

So, have a bit of fun and whimsy and create a Mother’s Day card which features a mother duck strolling with her ducklings.
