Create a Happy Birthday Fisherman card with the Best Catch Bundle.  My father loved to fish. In fact, he lived to fish.  However, he turned 95 years young and his fishing days are in the distant past.  However, over the years, there weren’t baskets of fish brought home to cook.  He  would sit or stand for hours on the shore or in his boat waiting for the right one to come along. Often we went fishing as a family and he spent more time untangling lines our lines.  But, he never complained.

So, when I saw this stamp set and matching dies, I knew I had to have it to create cards for the guys who love to fish. Although when he opened the card, his words were “What kind of fish is this?”  I said, “it’s a fish Dad, make it any kind you want”.   We did have a laugh.

Fisherman Birthday Card

Best Catch Recipe

Stamp Set: Best Catch*, Itty Bitty Birthdays.

Ink: Pool Party, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Tuxedo Black, Old Olive,

Paper: Whisper White, Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper, Vellum, Watercolor,

Accessories: Die Cutting Machine, Catch of the Day Thinlit Dies*, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Stampin Blends: Poppy Parade Duo, Cajun Craze Duo, Smoky Slate Duo, Pool Party Duo, Aqua Painter, Wink of Stella.

*Purchase the Best Catch stamp set and Catch of the Day Thinlit Dies as a bundle and receive 10% off.  This stamp set and dies will be carrying forward to the 2019/2020 Annual Catalogue, however, you will not be able to purchase the bundle.

Tips to Create Greeting Card

  • To create the background, swirl Pool Party reinker with water and then apply to Whisper White card stock with Aqua Painter.  Do not go over the area too many times or have too much water on your Aqua Painter. If you do,  the paper will start to pill.  On a scrap piece of Whisper White, do a cross-hatch with the Aqua Painter and Pool Party ink.  Set aside to dry. Stamp the bubble stamp over the background.
  • Stamp the fish on Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black ink.  Die cut with the Big Shot.  Color the fish using Stampin’ Blends.  You can choose your own colors or use the same ones that I did. Use the Wink of Stella pen to add glimmer to the fish.
  • On a piece of Watercolor Paper, do a cross-hatch using Cajun Craze and Old Olive ink.  Use the bulrushes and grasses die cut to cut the Vellum, Watercolor Paper and Whisper White.
  • Die cut a circle with the Stitched Shapes Die Cuts.
  • Attach the Watercolor paper behind the circle, attach the Vellum to the front and then the WHisper White grasses. Layer this on the background.  Attach the designer series paper to the card base, and then the art piece. Once the fish is colored, attach the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Cut the fly from multi-colored paper.  This piece on my table and I used the oxide metal faux technique. It added a touch of whimsy to the cards.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the front.

Today is “send a card to a friend” day.  When is the last time you sent a card to a friend?  Just to let them know that you are thinking about them will brighten their day.   They will also appreciate the “random act of kindness” because there was nothing to precipitate you sending a card except them.

Choose a friend you have not seen in a while. But certainly your other friends would be happy about a neat surprise in their snail mail box, too. A card is so much nicer to find in your mailbox than bills and advertisements. You don’t have to limit yourself to one person, because several people would enjoy the mail. How about sending a card to someone you have befriended in the past and lost contact with.

You can personally tailor your card with so many possibilities.  This stamp set is available as a Sale-a-Bration reward when you place an order that is a minimum $60 CDN.

Create a beautiful Calla Lily card for someone special. Find this set on the very last page in the 2019 Sale-a-Bration Brochure. Stamp this stamp set easily with the Stamparatus.

Beautiful Calla Lily

Recipe For Beautiful Calla Lily Card

Stamps: Lasting Lily.

Ink: Calypso Coral, Granny Apple Green.

Paper: Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper.

Accessories: Big Shot Die Cutting Machine, Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies, Stamparatus, Classic Label Punch, Sponge Daubers, Gingham Adhesive-Backed Sequins, Granny Apple Green, 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon.

Distinctive Stamps are a beautiful way to add dimension to your stamping. These stamps automatically provide shading and light to give your image the look of a photograph. Currently Stampin’ Up! has a patent pending on this type of stamp.

Details To Stamp Flower

  • Use the Stamparatus to align the stamps and achieve the perfect images.  This was achieved with 3 Stamparatus plates.
  • The Whisper White cardstock is aligned on the foam pad, align the flower stamps on the plate , lift up the plate, ink the stamps with Calypso Coral, lower the plate to stamp the image.
  • Now, you can either remove the flower stamps and replace with the stem stamps or you can use another plate to line up the stems.  Use Granny Apple Green ink to stamp stems.
  • Finally, either remove the 2 stem stamps and align the 3rd stamp (leaf) or use a separate plate.  Ink with Granny Apple Green ink.

Finish Off Your Card

  • Die cut the Calypso Coral cardstock with the 2nd largest Stitched Rectangle Framelits. With the 3rd largest rectangle, die cut the image panel.
  • Attach layers in this order:
    • a piece of Gingham Gala DSP to the Whisper White card base,
    • the stitched Calypso Coral
    • the stamped image panel
  • Stamp the sentiment on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, punch with Classic Label Punch and sponge with Calypso Coral ink.
  • Finally, tie a bow from the Granny Apple Green ribbon and attach to the stems with Glue Dots.  Attach sentiment with dimensionals underneath the bow. Attach a few Gingham Adhesive-Backed Sequins to the front of the card.  These sequins are great because you don’t have to struggle getting adhesive on the back to stick to the cardstock.
  • Beautiful Calla Lilly card

Male Birthday Card Solutions

Today, I have a card that will provide male birthday card solutions.  The one question I hear and/or see most often, is the lack of stamps to create male birthday cards.  Well, with the 2019 Occasions Catalogue, there are solutions. One solution is the Classic Garage Suite.  There are many guys and gals out there that really are into hot cars and like everything that goes with them.  And, of course, there is nothing to say about gals having this type of birthday.  However, there is sometimes a lack of stamp sets and papers that depict a guy’s taste.

Male Birthday Card SolutionsRecipe

Stamp Sets: Geared Up Garage

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento

Paper:Whisper White, Tranquil Tide, Galvanized Metallic Paper, Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper

Accessories: Big Shot Cutting Machine, Garage Gears Thinlits Dies, Blends: Real Red Duo, Smoky Slate Light, Classic Garage Metal Elements, Black/Silver 1/4″ Striped Metallic Ribbon, Banner Triple  Punch.

Details

  • Stamp the car in Tuxedo Black ink and cut with Garage Gears Thinlits Dies.  Color using Real Red Duo Blends and highlight with Color Lifter.  TIP:I find that die cutting before coloring sometimes prevents having to recolor because the die cuts have slipped and cut into the image.
  • Cut out the group of gears from the Galvanized Metallic Paper.  The  gears are attached together, and if you want, you can cut some apart to use in other places on your card, or there are separate gear die cuts to cut even more greats.
  • Punch banners with the Banner Triple Punch, using 2 different patterns from the Classic Garage DSP.  Stagger the lengths of the strips.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the DSP with Tuxedo Black ink.
  • Attach a length of the Black/Silver ribbon to a metal key embellishment and secure with adhesive to the back of the  Tranquil Tide card base.
  • Layer the die cut gears, and then the banner strips.  Attach the car with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Secure the key  with a Mini Glue Dot

The Classic Garage Suite will be available to purchase starting January 3, 2019 and of course, Sale-a-Bration rewards  are  available to order with a minimum of a $60 CDN order.

If you purchase the Geared Up Garage Bundle, (item # 150610), you have enough for 1 SAB reward. Also, by purchasing the bundle, you will save 10%.  WHAT  A DEAL!!!  Shop my ONLINE STORE

So if you like my male birthday card solutions, leave a comment below this post and let me know your thoughts.

Details:

If you are using Stampin’ Blends to color the images, you need to use the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  This ink is great for alcohol markers and will not bleed and ruin your images.

In the 2018 Holiday Catalogue, Stampin’ Up! expanded their line of Stampin’ Blends giving us more options for coloring.  In addition to the blends in the Annual Catalogue, there are the following appearing in the Holiday Catalogue: Real Red (dark & light), Shaded Spruce (dark & light), Basic Black (dark & light), Mango Melody (dark & light).  Remember that all Stampin’ Blends can be purchased in combined light & dark set, or individually.  You can see and order all the Stampin’ Blends HERE.  And, the Whisper White cardstock is a dream to use with the blends.  Make sure your work surface is covered so that you will not damage your desk or table.  The blends will bleed through to the back of the cardstock and this is a GOOD THING.
