create children christmas cards

Details:

If you are using Stampin’ Blends to color the images, you need to use the Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  This ink is great for alcohol markers and will not bleed and ruin your images.

In the 2018 Holiday Catalogue, Stampin’ Up! expanded their line of Stampin’ Blends giving us more options for coloring.  In addition to the blends in the Annual Catalogue, there are the following appearing in the Holiday Catalogue: Real Red (dark & light), Shaded Spruce (dark & light), Basic Black (dark & light), Mango Melody (dark & light).  Remember that all Stampin’ Blends can be purchased in combined light & dark set, or individually.  You can see and order all the Stampin’ Blends HERE.  And, the Whisper White cardstock is a dream to use with the blends.  Make sure your work surface is covered so that you will not damage your desk or table.  The blends will bleed through to the back of the cardstock and this is a GOOD THING.

So, create children Christmas cards with Sign of Santa Stamp Set and matching Santa’s Signpost Framelits Dies. Receive 10% of the individual cost of the stamp set and the framelits when you purchase these as a bundle.

Have fun!

Frosty Morning Christmas Card

Create a frosty morning Christmas card with the Winter Wood Stamp set from Stampin’ Up!.  Can you feel the foggy frosty morning?  Use elements and colors that that appeal to the senses.  For example, use a white  against a dark colored card base, and different shades of grey. With the addition of the green tree, the scene pops.

I really enjoyed creating this card.  I am not sure why.  Sometimes when I finish a card, I am not sure whether or not I am satisfied with how it looks.  Does this happen to you?  When I encounter this situation, I put the card away, and then the next day, I take another look and then I think to myself that the card looks pretty good.  However, with this card, I liked it right away.Frosty Morning Christmas Card

Thoughtful Petal Promenade Card

Create a thoughtful Petal Promenade card with the Petal Promenade Suite. Because this suite is versatile, you can create Wedding, Birthday, Just Because cards.

When cruising the internet and pinterest, I say a number of cards done with this suite.  The more cards I saw, the better I knew I had to have it.  So, here I am.  Actually, the pictures in the catalogue do now do the papers justice and they are a WOW in person.  The flowers and the colours are beautiful.  Who can resist roses in Blushing Bride, Petal Pink,  Fresh Fig and leaves in Mossy Meadow and Tranquil Tide.  The neutrals are Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Soft Suede.Thoughtful Petal Promenade card

Stamps: Beautiful Promenade, Rooted in Nature.

Inks: Blushing Bride.

Papers:Fresh Fig, Blushing Bride, Whisper White, Vellum, Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper.

Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Layers Thinlit Dies, Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies, Markers: Fresh Fig, Mossy Meadow, Rose Metallic Thread, Petal Pink Rhinestone Gems.

Details

  • The card base is Fresh Fig with layers of Blushing Bride, designer series paper with Fresh Fig, Mossy Meadow, Blushing Bride and Petal Pink colours.
  • A layer of Vellum makes the designer series paper subtle and sets of the medallion die cut in Mossy Meadow.

Add a Medallion die cut in Fresh Fig.

Customized Wedding Card

A couple of weeks ago I received a request to design and create a customized wedding card.  Needless to say, I felt delighted, honoured and a bit apprehensive.  It’s one thing to design a card for a class or as a gift, it’s entirely different to design a card for someone else. The ask was to design a card that would fit into a custom designed cheque folder.  So that is what I set out to do.

The colors were to be Fresh Fig and Sweet Sugar Plum with a touch of gold filigree.

Customized Wedding Card

Recipes

Stamps: Flourishing Phrases.

Ink/Marker: Fresh Fig.

Paper: Whisper White, Fresh Fig, Sweet Sugarplum, Gold Foil.

Accessories: Big Shot, Layering Circles Framelits, Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, So Detailed Thinlits Dies,  Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Envelope Punch Board, Metallic Enamel Shapes, Adhesive Sheets.

Details

The measurements for the card and holder are custom. I measured a cheque book and then made adjustments for the folder.  A cheque folder is lower in the front than the back, has rounded corners punched with the envelope punch board. The folder is attached on 2 sides: along the bottom and one side.

To provide the touches of gold, die cut Gold Foil paper with the So Detailed Thinlit and attach to the Sweet Sugarplum layer

Die cut “congrats” from Fresh Fig cardstock and attach above the Gold filigree.

Now onto the card.

  • The card base is Whisper White cardstock with Fresh Fig cardstock and Sweet Sugarplum cardstock layers.
  • Emboss the Sweet Sugarplum cardstock with the Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder or something similar.
  • Attach the Adhesive Sheet to the GOld Foil. Create the entwined hearts from Gold Foil Paper using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits. Use your Paper Snipes to slice one heart and insert the other heart around the slit.
  • Attach the hearts to the card front.  Easy peasy with the Adhesive Sheets.

Finally, stamp the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock, die cut with the Layered Circle Framelits, sponge the circle with Fresh Fig ink and layer on a Fresh Fig circle.

I was delighted to create the customized wedding card. Click on the product pictures below if you require products to recreate this card.

Suggestions To Create Feminine Greeting Cards

In this post, I will give you suggestions to create feminine greeting cards, but before I do, I would like to talk a bit more about color theory and the color wheel.  Read my previous post HERE

Black or white do not show on the color wheel, so where do this colors fit into the color wheel?

What colors, embellishments, images denote a feminine card?

  • Pastel colors such as Powder Pink, Soft Sky, So Saffron, are part of the Subtles Color Family.  Any of the colors in this family are great for feminine, baby, wedding or sympathy cards.
  • Lace also depicts femininity. Add a Delicate White Doily to your card and you have sweet and elegant.  Did you know that you can use a Stampin’ Spritzer with a reinker to spray the doily?
  • Pearls are another embellishment that you can use for feminine cards.
  • Ribbons, especially those in the Subtles Collection can be use to suggest femininity on a card.
  • Lastly, images such as flowers, birthday cakes and/or small cute animals which are either stamped in a pastel color or colored in a pastel color are quite, calm and soft.

Above all have fun with color.

create feminine greeting cards

Create tints, shades and tones by mixing white, black or both into the wheel colors.

Tints, Tones, Shades

  • Create tints by mixing white into a color.  More often than not, we recognize this colors as pastels. Pastels can represent as peace, calm and quiet.
  • Create tones by adding black and white into a color.  The quantity of black or white added to the original color  will result in a lighter or darker color. Grey is formed by mixing white and black.
  • Create tones by adding black to a color.

Create Feminine Greeting Cards

Recipe

Stamps: Birthday Delivery

Ink/Marker: Black Stazon, Markers: So Saffron, Powder Pink, Crumb Cake. Â

Paper: Whisper White Thick, Whisper White, Smoky Slate, Powder Pink, Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack.

Accessories: Big Shot, Happy Birthday Thinlits, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Birthday Friends Framelits, 1/2″ Powder Pink Finely Woven Ribbon, 1/4″ White Ribbon, Pearl Basic Jewels, Delicate White Doilies, Adhesive Sheets.

Details to create the above feminine greeting card.

  • Card base is Whisper White cardstock.
  • Layer a panel of Smoky Slate cardstock.
  • Add a layer of Powder Pink from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper Stack.  For this card I chose the pattern that looks like lace.
  • Stamp cake image on Whisper White cardstock and colour with markers and blender brush (Crumb Cake, Powder Pink, Soft Sky for cake, So Saffron for candle flames).  Die cut cake, add pearls to bottom of candles and on the ribbon.
  • Add a Delicate White Doily, a circle cut from Powder Pink cardstock using Stitched Shapes Framelits.
  • Die cut the Happy Birthday from Smokey Slate cardstock.  Don’t forget to add a piece of Adhesive Sheet to the cardstock before die cutting.  The Adhesive Sheets make is so easy to attach the intricate die cut pieces to your card.
  • To complete your card, place a piece of white narrow ribbon on a piece of Powder Pink Finely Woven Ribbon and all to card.  Attach the cake over the ribbons.

You’re done!

Try out these suggestions to create feminine greeting cards.    You can purchase the suggested inks, cardstock, embellishments and Big Shot Tools from my ONLINE STORE.  Remember though, it’s a good idea to give these types of card to someone who enjoys femininity.

Crazy About You – and a Whole Lot More

The Crazy About You stamp set in the 2015 Occasions catalogue is a great stamp to have on hand when creating sentiments.  It has 33 stamps and comes in wood mount, clear mount and photopolymer.  With this stamp set, I would definitely go with the photopolymer.

Why is that you ask?  Photopolymer stamps are clear so that you can see through them to place them precisely where you want the images on your project.  With the Crazy About You stamp set, there are 30 words or phrases that you can mix and match.  Combine the  words and phrases to create your own sentiment.  How super it that!

The Hello You Thinlits Dies compliment this stamp set and give you 4 additional words to add to your sentiments.  Just about every occasion is covered with this stamp set.

My card today uses the Hello Thinlit and the “Just Sayin'” phrase.

Crazy About YouRecipe

Stamps: Crazy About You.

Ink/Markers: Calypso Coral, Soft Suede, Pistachio Pudding.

Paper: Whisper White, Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Best Year Ever DSP.

Accessories: Big Shot, Hello You Thinlits, Flower Medallion Punch, Brights Candy Dots, Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine, Adhesive Sheets.

The flower was stamped 3 times, the first one is punched out with the Flower Medallion punch and the other 2 are fussy cut to provide 2 additional layers to the flower.  These 2 layers were attached to the first flower using dimensionals.

Create your sentiment by layering multiple words and stamps on one block (the beauty of the photopolymer stamps) so you don’t have to line them up when you are stamping.  So easy!!

Do you have trouble attaching your Thinlits to your projects because you don’t know which adhesive to use?

This tip will be in the February newsletter.  Sign up today so you don’t miss out on the tip.
