The Painted Seasons Bundle is a must have for 4 seasons stamping, card making and/or scrapbooking.  It isn’t often that we have a stamp that will take us through the year. The bundle consists of the stamp set and the Designer Series Paper, which by the way, is beautiful.

I started with the spring/summer feeling as winter is finally moving into spring and hopefully, summer will come bringing with it the beautiful flowers and butterflies.

The stamps are cling and have that Distinktive design which brings out the shading in the images. One thing to remember, don’t put too much ink on the stamp or you will lose the shaded designs.  A good way to limit the ink on your stamp, is to use a dauber and sponge the ink on the stamp. Painted Seasons Bundle

Male Birthday Card Solutions

Today, I have a card that will provide male birthday card solutions.  The one question I hear and/or see most often, is the lack of stamps to create male birthday cards.  Well, with the 2019 Occasions Catalogue, there are solutions. One solution is the Classic Garage Suite.  There are many guys and gals out there that really are into hot cars and like everything that goes with them.  And, of course, there is nothing to say about gals having this type of birthday.  However, there is sometimes a lack of stamp sets and papers that depict a guy’s taste.

Male Birthday Card SolutionsRecipe

Stamp Sets: Geared Up Garage

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento

Paper:Whisper White, Tranquil Tide, Galvanized Metallic Paper, Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper

Accessories: Big Shot Cutting Machine, Garage Gears Thinlits Dies, Blends: Real Red Duo, Smoky Slate Light, Classic Garage Metal Elements, Black/Silver 1/4″ Striped Metallic Ribbon, Banner Triple  Punch.

Details

  • Stamp the car in Tuxedo Black ink and cut with Garage Gears Thinlits Dies.  Color using Real Red Duo Blends and highlight with Color Lifter.  TIP:I find that die cutting before coloring sometimes prevents having to recolor because the die cuts have slipped and cut into the image.
  • Cut out the group of gears from the Galvanized Metallic Paper.  The  gears are attached together, and if you want, you can cut some apart to use in other places on your card, or there are separate gear die cuts to cut even more greats.
  • Punch banners with the Banner Triple Punch, using 2 different patterns from the Classic Garage DSP.  Stagger the lengths of the strips.
  • Stamp the sentiment on the DSP with Tuxedo Black ink.
  • Attach a length of the Black/Silver ribbon to a metal key embellishment and secure with adhesive to the back of the  Tranquil Tide card base.
  • Layer the die cut gears, and then the banner strips.  Attach the car with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Secure the key  with a Mini Glue Dot

The Classic Garage Suite will be available to purchase starting January 3, 2019 and of course, Sale-a-Bration rewards  are  available to order with a minimum of a $60 CDN order.

If you purchase the Geared Up Garage Bundle, (item # 150610), you have enough for 1 SAB reward. Also, by purchasing the bundle, you will save 10%.  WHAT  A DEAL!!!  Shop my ONLINE STORE

Favorite Valentine Card Verse

Do you have a favorite Valentine card verse?  One that goes through your head every year around Valentine’s Day?

Because there are many different relationships to celebrate on Valentine’s Day, I don’t go with only one verse.  The verse needs to suit the card and the person receiving the card.

Cards for friends will have more of a friendship flavor.  For example,  For family members such as parents, children and/or grandchildren, the verse will focus on relationships between me and the family member. Finally, some will have a private message and/or verse, and I am not sharing that one.

Here are some samples of verses I would use:

  • Friends: “Everyone has a gift for something, even if its a gift of being a good friend” (Marian Anderson)
  • Grandchildren and/or children:”Roses are red, Violets are blue, Honey is sweet and so are you!”
  • Sweetheart:  Of course the verse for this segment can be whatever you want to say.  Mostly, it depends on how well you know the other person, how long you have been together, and whether or not they can take a joke.  For example, here is one that is nice, not too frilly:  “Roses are red, violets are blue, My heart is full of love for you”.

It’s very hard to find a generic verse.  It’s all about preference and who is going to be reading the verse!

Favorite Valentine card verse

Recipe

Stamps: Sure Do Love You.

Ink/Marker: Peekaboo Peach, VersaMark.

Paper: Whisper White, Peekaboo Peach, Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.

  • Cut Peekaboo Peach cardstock at 5-1/4″ x 4″.Ink small hearts with Peekaboo Peach ink and randomly stamp over the panel.
  • Ink a small heart with VersaMark and stamp on the Peekaboo Peach cardstock.  Emboss with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat with heat tool.
  • Cut 2 hearts from the Painted With Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Attach to the embossed Peekaboo Peach cardstock.
  • Ink the “verse” stamp using the Rose Red and Sweet Sugarplum Markers.  The inked stamp appears variegated. Stamp on Whisper  White and die cut using the Lots of Love Box Framelits Dies.  Before attaching to card front, loop a piece of the Sweet Sugarplum Love Mini Tinsel Trim and attach to heart.  Attach the heart to card front.

Create Gift Boxes with the WIndow Box Thinlits Dies.and personalize them for the person that you are gifting. There is a reason behind the name..

If you look closely at the die cuts, there are 3 thinlits that you can use to create peekaboo windows in the sides of the box.  Before putting the box together, select paper that you can slide behind the cutouts.  For this box, I used the silver glimmer paper to give some sparkle. I used the thinlits with the circle cutouts and placed it in every other side.

Create Gift BoxesCreate Gift Boxes

There are various ways to decorate the top of the box.  Here, I did a flower in Mint Macaron with a Peekaboo Peach center.  Create the flower using the Festive Flower Punch.  Punch out 15 large petals, 12 smaller petals and 4 center flowers  from Mint Macaron.

I spray some rubbing alcohol on the petals to distress them a bit. Before attaching the petals, use a rounded tool to lift the petals.  Attach the petals in layers and overlap each layer. For the flower center, cut a strip of Peekaboo Peach cardstock at 11″ x 3/4″.  Use the Fringe Scissors and fringe along the length of the paper.  .  Attach a strip of Tear and Tape Adhesive and start rolling the strip.

I found it easier to have the adhesive on the outside as you roll and remove the tape backing as you progress.

Last but not least, punch a sentiment from the stamp set, die cut with a framelit.  String a piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine through the hole and tie around the Metallic ribbon.

Recipe

Stamps: Window Shopping.

Ink/Markers: Sweet Sugarplum.

Paper: Sweet Sugarplum, Mint Macaron, Peekaboo Peach, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer Paper.

Accessories: Big Shot, Window Box Thinlit Dies, 3/8” Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack (Silver), White Baker’s Twine, Festive Flower Punch, Fringe Scissors.

You can purchase the Window Shopping stamp set and the matching Window Box Thinlit Dies as a bundle and save 10%.  Check it out HERE!

Three 2017 Paper Crafting Trends

As we begin the new year, what do you think will be the top 2017 Paper  Crafting Trends?

2017 Paper Crafting Trends

Going through the 2017 Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogues, several products piqued my interest as trends.

Colouring continues to be a trend in 2017.  There are 2 new products in the  catalogues I am sure will be on your list. First, is the Watercolor Pencils.  Use the high quality pencils to watercolor stamped images or to create backgrounds.  The color will move around when you use either the Aqua Painter Brushes and/or the Blender Pens. The colors offered are in the current Stampin’ Up! colors.

The second product is the Inside The Lines Designer Series Paper, a Sale-a-Bration item.  The paper is printed in black and white with 2 sheets of 4 different designs.  You can earn the paper for FREE by having a $60.00CDN (shipping and taxes not included) order. Match the paper to any stamped image to create a WOW project.

The second trend are the whimsical flying creatures.   A new stamp set in the 2017 Occasions catalogue is the Dragonfly Dreams.  This is a two-step stamp set with matching dragonfly thinlits. There are people who believe that the dragon symbolizes transformation and mystic.   Here is a link to an article that you may peak your curiosity.  Dragonfly Symbolism

The bee is often seen as a symbol of tenacity.  Aerodynamically, the bee should not be flying.  But because they don’t know this, they fly anyway. Maybe we need to take an approach to life like the bee.

The third trend is Succulents. Actually i didn’t even know that Succulents are a trend until I saw that new Occasions Catalogue.  The Oh So Succulent stamp set and matching framelits lend themselves to many different projects….scrapbook pages, cards and 3-D items.

Three reasons that Succulents are trendy:

  1. People are living in smaller spaces and don’t have room for large gardens.  Succulents can live inside or outside.
  2. It is easy to care for Succulents.  They do not require tons of water, they are fire-resistant and can act as a fire retardant in areas that are susceptible to wildfires.
  3. Succulents come in many colours, not just green and they do produce vibrant flowers.  So, what is not to love about succulents.

These are my three 2017 paper crafting trends, what are your 3 top trends for 2017.  Leave me a.comment.  I would love to hear or see your ideas.
