Valentines Day Heart Cart

The Valentines Day Heart cart is sure to greeted with ooos and awws.  Fill it with Valentine treats and you will be a hit.

Valentines Day is coming soon so get started on your projects now.  This cart started as as a simple project and then I thought why not just keep adding hearts (lots of different hearts) so that the cart gives the illusion of being packed full with hearts.

So here is the reveal and I will give you general instructions as to how I created this.

Valentines Day Heart Cart

Stamps: Hearts a Flutter (c- 129252, w- 131922, p124 2013/14 Annual Catalogue), Banner Blast (c- 133554, w- 133551, 2014 Sale-a-Bration).

Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Baked Brown Sugar, Basic Black, Naturals White, Primrose Petals Core’dinations.

Ink: Primrose Petals, Real Red.

Accessories: Big Shot, Circle Framelits, Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Hearts Collection Framelits, Fashionable Hearts Embosslits, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, Watercolor Washi Tape, Neutral Candy Dots, Whisper White Bakers Twine, Banner Punch, Owl Builder Punch.

How I Did It

Create Cart

  1. Using Baked Brown Sugar card stock, cut 5″ x 4″and score at 1″ and 4″, turn card stock and score at 1″ and 3″cart (refer to template below).
  2. To create posts – cut 2 pieces of cardboard 3″ x 1/2″ – I used the white cardboard from the Designer Paper packages.  Cover with the solid gold washi tape and set aside.
  3. Cut large wheel from Basic Black card stock with the 2nds smallest circle and from Naturals White, cut wheel using smallest circle (Circles Collection Framelits). Attach an Early Espresso Candy dot to the center of each wheel.

Valentines Day Heart Cart

Create Valentines for cart

  1. Using Real Red ink, stamp hearts from the Hearts a Flutter stamp set on Whisper White card stock.  Die cut using the Hearts a Flutter framelits.
  2. Stamp and die hearts from Primrose Core’dination paper and emboss with Decorative Dots embossing folder.  Using the Stampin’ Sanding System, distress some of the embossed hearts.  This will add some texture.
  3. Cut some hearts using the smaller hearts from the Hearts Collection Framelits using Real Red card stock.
  4. Using the Fashionable Heart embosslit, cut hearts from Real Red card stock and Primrose Core’dination paper.
  5. Attach the hearts to the inside backside of cart, front of cart, back of cart and on each end of cart. Layer the hearts and add as many as you would like.  Start with the inside back of cart placing the hearts.
  6. Attach wheels to each side of cart.
  7. Stamp 3 banners from the Banner Blast stamp set on Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink.  Make one of the banners the “love” banner.  Punch banners using the Banner Punch.  Punch 3 banners from Real Red card stock (these will be used to attach the banners to the Baker’s Twine.
  8. Using the Paper Piercer, pierce one hole in the top of each of the posts.  Cut a 6″ piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine and string through the holes in the post.  Knot the twine.
  9. Attach the banners to the Baker’s Twine using Multipurpose Glue and place one of the Real Red banners behind the stamped banner.
  10. Using the Owl Builder Punch, punch 2 hearts from Real Red card stock and attach on the outside of posts to cover the knots in the Bakers’ Twine.
  11. Fill a cellophane bag with Valentine goodies, tie the top and place in the cart.  Oh so cute!!

Envelope Punch Board – Much More Than Envelopes

Have you got your envelope punch board yet?  This latest toy, oh I mean tool, can do so much more than make 66 different sized envelopes. Try a box to fit a set of cards and present as a gift.

I did 3 different boxes, using slightly different measurements and they are so cute.  I also used the new Gift Bow Bigz Die that is in the 2013 Holiday Catalogue.

While these boxes use the same principle to create (using the Envelope Punch Board), they all look different because of the different colour card stock, designer series papers and embellishment.

As for the bows, you can colour coordinate the bow with your box, go off the grid and really mix it up, or design your box and bow to reflect a feeling, like sophisticated, whimsy, or contemporary.

Here is a video which demonstrates how to create the boxes and also incorporates the use of the Gift Bow Die.

Children Halloween Craft Ideas

There are a lot of children Halloween craft ideas out there, and I have one that is fun and is suitable for children 6 and up.

A couple of weeks ago, I had my grandchildren over for a visit and decided to do a craft with them.  I did learn a few lessons, ie, don’t do anything that takes too long.  However, we did survive and they and myself had a lot of fun.

It was interesting to watch them, fan fold papers, stamping what ever they liked and deciding which papers to use and which colours to stamp with.

In the end, I had to to do a bit of finishing for them, however the results were great.

By the time we finished, there was a lot of sticky glue around and a few fingers and hands that had black ink on them – it was a fun time.

One of the tools they enjoyed was the Big Shot – who doesn’t love using the Big Shot!!

Another craft that children would enjoy is making their own tags for gifts.  One that would suit the little ones to the big ones is the Pop & Place Holiday Gift Tag and Stamp Set.

You can purchase this kit in various configurations and it would be a great Christmas craft to do with your little ones.  No real experience is needed.

Children Halloween Craft Ideas

Available October 4, 2013 – December 31, 2013

There are 3 configurations that you can purchase,

Gift Tag Book (134975) $11.95

Gift Tag Bundle (135921) $22.95

Gift Tag Starter Bundle (135290) $27. 95

More Envelope Punch Board Ideas

We always want more ideas for the tools that we use in paper crafting, so today, I have more Envelope Punch Board ideas and will show you how to use the punch board to make File Folder cards.

Watch the the video so that you can see the cuts that you make to create the file folder cards.

File Folder Card 1

The first card uses the O Holy Night stamp set, inked with the Encore Silver ink.  The Encore Silver ink is a pigment ink that allows you to get the appearance of silver embossing without the using the silver embossing powder and the heat gun.

The File Folder cuts are demonstrated on the video above with the measurements for cutting the front of the card to get 2 distinct jut out to really resemble the file folder.

Stamps: O Holy Night (c – 131835, w- 131832, p333 2013/14 Annual Catalogue

Paper: Whisper White, Island Indigo, Brush Silver, Coastal Cabana, Winter Frost Designer Paper

Ink: Encore Silver

Accessories: Envelope Punch Board, Mosaic Punch, Frosted Finishes Embellishment

File Folder Card 2

The second card features the Modern Mosaic stamp set which is turned into a Christmas decoration.  Isn’t it great when you can have alternative uses for a stamp set? More Envelope Punch Board Ideas

Recipe

Stamps: Mosaic Madness (c – 130249, w- 130246, p123 2013/14 Annual Catalogue), More Merry Messages (c – 126402, w- 126400, Online Only)

Paper: Whisper White, Island Indigo, Smokey Slate, Winter Frost Designer Paper

Ink: Encore Silver, Island Indigo, Coastal Cabana

Accessories: Big Shot, Modern Mosaic Emboss Folder, Envelope Punch Board, Mosaic Punch, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Versa Mark, White Embossing Powder, Iridescent Embossing Powder, Rhinestone Jewel, Island Indigo Bakers Twine

For this File Folder card, only one side of the front has the file folder look, all corners are rounded using the back side of the Envelope Board Punch.

To achieve the sparkly effect on the background, the Modern Mosaic embossing folder was inked with Versamark ink using a brayer.   The Smokey Slate card stock was placed in the embossing folder and run through the Big Shot.  Take the paper our carefully so as not to smudge the Versamark ink and cover with embossing powder.  I used a mixture of White Emboss Powder and Iridescent Emboss Powder using equal measurements.

To achieve the Christmas decoration look, the Modern Mosaic image was stamped 6 times using Island Indigo ink and 3 times using the Coastal Cabana ink.  Each image was punched out with the Mosaic Punch. Take 2 of the punched mosaics, fold in half, and glue 2 of the sides together.  Finally insert the Island Indigo Bakers Twine down the middle where the 2 mosaics are attached and glue the 3rd one to the back.  This one is flat and you will attach it to your card.  Doing this technique to the card, makes the Christmas decorations appear to be 3-D.

Have you been able to dream up more envelope punch board ideas?  If so, leave me a comment and let me know what your ideas are for the board.

Mother’s Day wouldn’t be Mother’s Day without Flowers

Mother’s Day is probably the busiest day of the year for Flower Shops, with the exception of Valentine’s Day.

I know that my Mother enjoys getting flowers on any occasion or a just because occasion.  So along with the cards I created, I also created 3 vases of flowers; one for my Mom, one for my DD and one for my DIL.  I know that these will last much longer than the fresh ones.

  Mother's Day Flowers

I used a number of the new colours in these flowers and the vases.  Can you guess which ones?

Ok, I used Bermuda Bay, Burnt Brown Sugar, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, along with a retiring colour, Baja Breeze and the Designer Series Papers Stack.

The vases are recycled and I used a mixture of white acrylic paint and reinker to give them their colour. Once you have mixed the paint colour to the shade that appeals to you, pour the paint mixture into the vases and swirl and roll to cover the inside of the vase. I found that the acrylic paint should be too thick or it takes quite a bit of time to cover the inside of the vases.

After the paint adheres to the inside of the vase, turn it upside down to have the excess paint drain out.  Turn the vase right side up and you can let it dry or put it in the oven and set the temperature at 350 degrees and bake for 10 minutes.  Turn the oven off and leave the vase cool down in the oven.  Remove the vase when the oven is cold.  If you remove the vase to soon, it may crack.

Decorate the outside of the vase as you wish.

These flowers and vases would be great to give to anyone at anytime or maybe even give one to yourself.

Don’t forget that time is running out for the retired stamps and the accessories.  You have until June 3rd to take advantage of the stamps and accessories.  Accessories are available until they are sold out, so if there is something you just have to have, visit HERE

Happy Mother’s Day

I just have to share this cute little Christmas tea light that my upline gave to her group at our Christmas meeting.   It just the cutest little thing and would be so easy to make…ok not this year but maybe next.

Saturday, Dec 9th is International Children’s Day and wouldn’t Mr Snowman Light made a wonderful addition to for a night light in a child’s room…of course, one who is at an age where everything doesn’t go in their mouths.

Tealight Snowman

He is a tealight (the one with the coloured wick) which is mounted on a scallop circle, the hat is made from the oval punch embossed with the the petals a plenty.  THe border on his had is a piece of DSP punched with the small oval and trimmed.  His scarf is the trim from the Holiday Catalogue – 1/4″ Sweater Trim.  Lastly his eyes and mouth are done with rhinestones that have been coloured black.

Did you know that you can have any coloured rhinestone or pearl?  Just colour them with an alcohol based marker – Sharpies work great.

Have a wonderful day….
