Tulip Fields and Windmills Can be Seen in the Netherlands
Tulip fields and windmills are associated with the Netherlands. I can only image what spring looks like when the blossoms are in full bloom. The colors are so vibrant and you usually see them in any flower colour. Windmills are another icon of Holland. They are seen throughout Holland, many standing over the tulip fields.
The Holland people built them to preserve their land. Because Holland was below sea level, the windmills constantly pumped the water out of the fields. A dike was built to protect the country from flooding. I am sure that many of you have heard the story about the little Dutch boy who saved Holland by putting his finger in the dike.
For this card, I chose to use the Jan-Jun Mini Catalogue (page 14) as my inspiration.
Tulips and Windmills Card Recipe
Stamp Sets: Tulip Fields*,
Ink: VersaMark, Early Espresso.
Paper: Basic White, Poppy Parade, Petal Pink, Highland Heather, Early Espresso, Pool Party, Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper.
Accessories: Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Windmill Fields Dies*, Double Oval Punch, Stampin’ Emboss Powders (Basic), Early Espresso Faux Suede Ribbon, Round & Square Brads, Heat Tool.

Paper Cutting Measurements
- Basic White 8-1/2 x5-1/2″, Scraps for Sentiment and top windmill layer score at 4″ and burnish with the Bone Folder (card base).
- Pool Party (CS) 5-1/4″ x 4″.
- Flowering Fields Designer Series Paper (DSP) – 5″ x 3-3/4″ choose a sheet that you could use for a sky background.
- Highland Heather 3-3/4″ x 2″ , Petal Pink (CS) 3-3/4″ x 2″, Poppy Parade (CS)- 3-3/4″ x 2-1/4″ to die cut the tulips.
- Early Espresso (CS): 4-1/2″ x 4-/2″, scraps for windmill
- Early Espresso Faux Suede Ribbon : 12″
Assemble the Card
- Adhere the Pool Party cs panel to the card base.
- Stamp clouds with VersaMark on the DSP and heat emboss with the White Emboss Powder and the Heat Tool.
- Die cut the windmill blades and the windmill base from from Early Espresso cs. Die cut the detailed windmill portion from Basic White cs. Attach to the Early Espresso windmill. Attach the 2 pieces together with a white square brad. Adhere to the DSP as per the image.
- Die cut 3 sets of tulip borders from Highland Heather cs, Petal Pink cs and Poppy Parade. Layer on the DSP panel starting with the Highland Heather cs, layer the Petal Pink cs layer and finally the Poppy Parade layer. The Poppy Parade layer. needs to lineup with the bottom of the DSP layer.
- Stamp the sentiment with Early Espresso ink on Basic White cs and punch with scalloped oval punch.
- Wrap the Early Espresso ribbon 3x across the back of the sentiment. Use Tear & Tape adhesive to adhere.
- Attach the DSP panel to the Pool Party cs panel with Dimensionals.
- Decorate and stamp the inside of the card .

So, now you know a little about the tulips fields and the windmills in Holland. Maybe one day I will get to see them for real. But in the mean time, I have my card.
