Sympathy Card Assists in The Grieving Process
Sympathy Card
Sending a sympathy card to someone who has lost a dearly loved person can help with their healing. Grief is difficult, however, to experience grief is a part of the healing process. Everyone experiences grief differently.
Sometimes the person will try to remain stoic and carry on with life, some will display their emotions outwardly. However a person chooses to grieve is their own personal preference and we should not judge them in any way.
Nothing can replace the loved one who is gone, however a sympathy card can provide strength and comfort when dealing with this difficult situation. Although many sympathy cards have a greeting already on the inside of the card, it is important that you add a few words expressing your condolences.
The inside verse reads: “As time and memory bring healing, may comfort and hope bloom in your heart”. This verse conveys my thoughts, however I will add something in my own words.
I created this sympathy card for a friend’s daughter-in-law, who lost her dear Grandmother. My thoughts go out to her and her family. They have lost the matriarch of the family.
Recipe
Stamps: Serene Silhouettes, Bloom with Hope, Papillon Potpourri.
Ink/Markers: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, VersaMark.
Paper: Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant.
Accessories: Big Shot, Lovely Lace Embossing Folder, Ovals Collection Framelits, Circle Card Thinlit, 1/8” Silver Ribbon, Bitty Butterfly Punch, White Embossing Powder, Pearl Jewels.
I stamped the image in VersaMark and embossed with White Embossing powder. After heat setting the embossing powder, I shadow stamped the image using Elegant Eggplant.
When shadow stamping:
Stamp 1 image in your choice of ink.
Clean the stamp and ink again in another color.
Move the stamp over a smidge (is that a legal measurement) and stamp again.
Finally, I used a sponge and Wisteria Wonder ink and sponged the whole panel. The sponging will made the embossed image more prominent. This technique is known as embossing resist.
This Serene Silhouette is my “go-to” stamp when I need to create a Sympathy card.
