Soft Pastels coloring medium is another way to put the WOW into your cards. The are easy to use and no right or wrong way to use them in your paper crafting.

What are pastels?  Pastels are chalk that can be used with various coloring tools.  You can use them by rubbing a colour from the stick on scrap paper and picking up the pigment with a brush or q-tip and color an image.  Use your finger to blend the colours or the Blending Brushes.

Also you can emboss a panel of cardstock or watercolor paper and dab VersaMark on the embossed areas, and rub the area with the pastel and you will get a beautiful look.

For this card, I used the very simple method and the Blending Brushes.

Greeting Card Recipe

Stamp Set: Color & Contour.

Ink: Memento Black Tuxedo, Highland Heather.

Paper: Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Basic White.

Accessories: Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, Scalloped Contour Dies, Soft Pastels, Gorgeous Grape 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon, Blending Brushes.

Cutting Measurements for Cardstock, etc.

Gorgeous Grape- 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ score at 4-1/4″ and burnish with Bone Folder.

Highland Heather: 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.

Basic White: –  4″ x 3″, scraps for flowers and 4″ x 5-1/4″ inside panel.

Gorgeous Grape 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon – 7″.

Create the Card

• Die cut the Highland Heather cardstock with the largest scalloped die from with the Scalloped Contour Dies.  Attach to the Gorgeous Grape card Base.
• Cut the Basic White panel with the 3rd largest die from the Scalloped Contour Dies.  On this panel stamp the sentiment in the left top corner and the splatters using Fresh Freesia ink. Load a Blending Brush with Fresh Freesia ink and swirl on the Basic White panel.
• Stamp the two flowers on the Basic White scraps. Scribble the Coastal Cabana,  Mossy Meadow, Gorgeous Grape and Daffodil Delight on scrap paper.
• Use a Blending Bush or a Sponge Dauber to pick up the dust and apply to the flower petals and the stem and leaves. You do not have to use a fixative to make sure the color stays on the paper.
• Stamp and/or decorate the inside Basic White panel.

This is an easy and simple card and can be done by any stamper from beginner to avid.  Just have fun and get your feet wet using the Soft Pastels coloring medium.
