More Convention 2012

Just a few more pictures at Stampin’ Up! Convention 2012.  This is the end of Day 2 and the excitement continues.  This morning the halls were buzzing as we waited to get into the general session.

The classes I have attended are excellent.. one by Brian Pilling on Leadership and what makes a great leader

Perception of you by yourself and by others,
Purpose – what is your purpose of being a great leader
Power – we all have power as leaders but how do we use  it

The second class was with Shannon West on “I am having fun”.  Using your 5 senses to set the scene of Having Fun…What does fun look like to you?   We even got to dance and hand jive…smiling makes you feel better physically and emotionally.  Excellent session.

The Key Note Speaker was Jason Darcey and he spoke on the Generation Y and what makes them tick…and not tick…Mostly it’s texting and social networking.

All in all it was a fun day and now I’m exhausted but it’s a good exhausted feeling.

Stampin Up! Convention 2012

Well, we arrived in Salt Lake City and have been doing some heavy shopping.  There is a new mall, the City Creek Center, that has wonderful store including a Brighton and you know what that means…some mega shopping.

On Monday we had a huge storm, thunder and a down pour but it didn’t last long…but it has returned to being so hot…you have to drink lots of water to keep hydrated.

Of course we had to try out some restaurants that we don’t have at home…like Applebees and Red Lobster…good food.  There is a Cheesecake Factory and I am sure that we will try that out along with the Olive Garden before convention comes to an end.

Yesterday, I did my first organized SWAP and we made 20 cards in about 4 hours.  Time went so fast but I got them done

These cards were designed by other Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and are beautiful.  There is so much talent and creativity.

Today, the Stampin’ Up! Convention starts and all the demonstrators will be in one place.  I wonder what Stampin’ Up! has in store for us and what announcements will be made that will surprise all of us.

So this is my post for Day 1 of convention and I will be back to let you know what else is happening.

Using Stampin’ Up! Adhesive Sheet to Apply Glitter

 Welcome to Simply Said Tuesday Tips and Techniques and today’s topic is using Stampin’ Up!’s Adhesive Sheets.

Sometimes it’s great to apply glitter to a stamped image and how do you do that the easiest way.

I have found that Stampin’ Up!’s Adhesive Sheets are an excellent way to accomplish the application of glitter to a stamped image.

This is an easy technique, no mess, no fuss.

Adhesive Sheets are a versatile tool as they will turn almost anything into a sticker.

Ice Cream Cone Card for a Summer Birthday

Who doesn’t like ice cream in the Summer?  It’s refreshing, cooling and drippy and it just goes along with hot, carefree summer days.

Do you know someone who is celebrating a summer birthday, then, this is a card you need to try out.

This card is easy and summer is all about being easy and simple.  With just a few simple tools, you can create this card.

Stamps: Petite Pairs (c – 122497, w – 122495, p. 134, 2012-2013 AC
Paper: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Real Red
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice Folder, Petal Cone Bigz L, 2-1/2” Circle Punch, 2-3/8 Scallop Circle Punch, Extra Large Tag Punch, Cupcake Builder Punch, Crystal Effects, White Gel Pen, Brad, Scallop Dots Ribbon,  Dazzling  Details
Cut one cone using the petal cone die and cut off one of the flaps, run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Folder, fold and secure the 2 edges together with adhesive.
Cut one piece using the petal cone die and trim to fit inside the assembled cone.  
The ice cream scoops are sponged with Crumb Cake ink, the circles were given texture with the scallop circle punch and dazzling details randomly added to the scoops of ice cream.
Of course, the cherry is the added touch.

Happy 10th Wedding Anniversay

Congratulations to my daughter and her husband who celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary this past weekend.  
And during that time, my daughter completed her education degree along with added studies in Learning Assistance.  They have blessed me with 2 delightful grandchildren who are so much fun to be with.
I don’t know where the time has gone, but gone it has.

Tuesday Tips and Techniques – Tie a Bow

I know that I had difficulty and tried various techniques and this one that I found as turned out to be the life-saver when it comes to tying a bow.

There is Always a Reason to Smile

This is the third card in the series of the “Reason to Smile” stamp set.  Although it’s a card that we often have difficulty creating as it depicts a sad time in a life.

Why do I say there is a reason to smile?

There are always loving memories for the people left behind and those memories can bring a smile to our faces.

We remember the person for the joy that they brought to our life and we carry them in our hearts forever.

And, that in itself, is a reason to smile.

I added a frame to the Apothecary framelit die by cutting a piece of card stock slightly larger than the rectangle and then added 2 circles to either end to create the half circle.
I also played with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and outline the inner portion on the pink pirouette and the outside on the Raspberry Ripple.

More Reason to Smile

We are in a heat wave, or at least the second day of one.  Maybe I’m too optimistic and I’m smiling too.  
As promised here is another card done with the Reason to Smile stamp set.  Again, I have used the personalized designer paper that I used in my last project.

For a couple of cards, I created my own designer series paper by stamping on Whisper White card stock.  I used Midnight Muse ink and stamped the large daisies and then went back and over stamped them with Pool Party ink.  The little flowers were done using More Mustard and So Saffron inks.  I did leave some of the smaller flowers with just the So Saffron ink and gives the designer paper another look.  
Using other colours of ink will give an entirely different feeling to your designer paper.  Remember though if you are going to use only small areas of your designer papers, then the images need to be close together or you will get too much white space on your project.

Faux Gold For a Unique Look

Today I am going to show you how to get the Faux Gold Metal look using Versamark and Gold Embossing Powder.
One of the stamps sets that I am really intrigued with is the Clockworks.  I think that if you are looking for the Grunge look, then this stamp set is for you.  It would also be good for a vintage look as well.

Birthday Card with a Punch

Welcome to another session of Tuesday Tips and Techniques.
Today, I have posted a video to demonstrate the technique of water colouring with Stampin’ Up! classic inks, water and the Aqua Painter.
This is a very easy technique and it has real oomph (is that a word) to use on cards, scrap book pages or 3 -D projects.
