My Crafting Disaster and How I Recovered
My Crafting Disaster and How I Recovered
From time to time, I will have a crafting disaster. It’s not so much about the disaster, but how I recovered from it. Sometimes you have a vision of how the card is supposed to look and how you are going to get to that look.
Has that ever happened to you?
My latest disaster was creating the card that I am focusing on today. The stamp set I chose was the Ray of Sunshine, a new stamp in this year’s catalogue.
I had envisioned the sun with the first set of rays stamped in full ink, a second set, stamped off once and then a third set stamped off twice. This would give the sun a cluster of arrays some appear in the fore ground and then the rest receding as the rays got further from the sun.
But my vision was not to be!
I tried to create the effect at least 4 times. I ended up with the rays in the wrong places, not remembering to stamp off 1 and 2 times on the rays, and because I was using the 2-step stamping tool, smudging the ink and generally making a mess, muttering under my breath, and feeling frustrated, I decided to go another route.
Here is how my card ended up, and I am happy – that being the main thing.
Recipe

Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Lost Lagoon, Champagne Glimmer Paper, Flowerpot DSP.

Recovery
So instead of beating my head against a wall, I abandoned the receding rays. The main rays were stamped and fussy cut and evenly spaced around the sun. The interval rays are punched from Champagne Glitter paper with the Banner Punch and attached to the card.
New Product
One of the new products I used was the Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask. These masks are great because you can create interesting background for your cards, scrapbook pages and other projects. You can spritz, sponge, trace and emboss the various elements onto your papers.
