Christmas Will Be Here Before We Know It
One Thing Is For Sure – Christmas Will Be Here
Ready or not, Christmas will be here!. It comes the same date every year and every year we tend to get highly stressed about what it is we need to do. Why is that?
Over the next several posts, I will be identifying ways to help you reduce the stress that the holiday period can bring.
Here is one area that usually cause stress for us over the holidays.
Gifts – Do we really need to do all that shopping for gifts, decorations, food, etc? Some of the questions we need to ask ourselves are:
- Do I really want to head out there in the hustle and bustle of the crowds?
- Do the people that I am buying the gifts for really need what I am buying? Or will they display them and/or use them for a couple of months and then put them away somewhere never to be seen again?
- Maybe this year, we could put some of that money that we normally spend to other uses and try to come up with ways to make this time of year less commercial. A couple of suggestions are to donate to a favourite charity on behalf of the person, or perhaps create your own gifts.
- Maybe a really special Christmas card for that special family member will work. Create a card from the heart and put a special verse inside.
So to start this series off, I have a Christmas card that I created. Yes, one Christmas card that will go to a special friend.
Recipe:
Stamps: Bright and Beautiful.
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Cherry Cobbler, VersaMark.
Paper: Kraft, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Under the Tree DSP, Gold Foil.
Accessories: Big Shot, Stars Framelits, Gold Embossing Powder, White Embossing Powder, Rhinestone Jewels, Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities.
This card utilizes that Under the Tree Designer Series Paper. It is heavier that the regular cardstock and is a great product for making gift boxes as well as cards. One side of the paper is colored using Cherry Gobbler, Garden Green, Early Espresso and the other side, the designs are printed in white onto Kraft coloured. So, you can use both sides on 1 project and it all goes together.
The star framelits make the cutting out of the stars so easy and then layering them gives real dimension to the card.
The sentiment was stamped in black onto the DSP and then stamped again on Whisper White with Cherry Cobbler ink. The words “Christmas & a New Year” were cut out to resemble a banner and layer over the black words.
Finally, the rhinestone jewels were coloured with the Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities and they really had the sparkle to the card.
This card is very easy to recreate and yet it is very effective. The card will be suitable for someone who likes sparkle and glitz.
So get yourself started on your Christmas gifts and cards because Christmas will be here.
