Cards for Christmas – A Wonderful Way to Celebrate
Cards for Christmas is a great way to let people know that you are thinking about them. It is very special to receive a hand-crafted card as us crafters will usually pour our heart and soul into paper crafting.
Over this past weekend, I had crafters busily making their Christmas cards to celebrate the season. What fun we had, laughing, talking, and yes, I think I heard a bit of singing – it may not have been Christmas songs though.
We were thrown into the season of ice and snow so that just adds to the Christmas feeling. And while it is not as cold as some places around the world, I’m not liking it one little bit. Ok, the skiers can hardly wait to get on the slope, but for me, it’s been there, done that, and I won’t be doing it again. When it gets this cold, a good book, or a TV movie and wrapped up in a cozy blanket is the way to go.
My share today is a couple of the cards we did for the Christmas Card class and I hope you to enjoy them.
This first Card uses the Festive Flurry stamp set and matching dies. Can you image trying to fussy cut all those intricate points? I certainly can’t!
Recipe
Stamps: Festive Flurry (c – 131781 w- 131778, p30 2013 Holiday Catalogue)
Paper: Whisper White, Island Indigo, Silver Foil
Ink: Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay, Versamark
Accessories: Big Shot, Festive Flurry Framelits, Circle Collections Framelits, Expressions Thinlits Dies, Circle Framelits, Smokey Slate Embossing Powder, Silver Ribbon, Indigo Island Chevron Ribbon, Rhinestone
The Circle Framelits were used to cut the circle in the card base and the Island Indigo card stock is place on the inside of the card. Stamp the 2nd largest Festive Flurry snowflake with Island Indigo on the left-over circle and then using the next smallest circle framelit, cut around the snowflake. This allows a bit of the Island Indigo to show in the front window circle.
The Silver Ribbon is attached between the 2 smaller snowflakes and the ribbon is attached to the top of the card and finished off with an Island Indigo ribbon bow.
You now have a dangling snowflake.
When using the Thinlits, put 2 layers of wax paper between the foil and the thinlit and the words will come away easily from the framelit.
This card uses the Wonderful Wreath stamp which available only in a wood mount. When I saw this stamp in the holiday catalogue, I had this card in mind.
Recipe
Stamps: Wonderful Wreath (w- 132748, p34 2013 Holiday Catalogue)
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, Seasons of Style Paper Pack, Baked Brown Sugar
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Accessories: Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon, Old Olive Simply Styled Embellishments, Markers: Old Olive, Wild Wasabi, Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Details.
Other: Silhouette Window Frame Download
Using the Silhouette electronic e-cutter and a window frame download, the window frame was cut from Whisper White card stock.
To achieve the icicle effect, Crystal Effects was applied at the top of the window in a thick layer and then held upright, so that the Crystal Effects would run down the window. Dazzling Diamonds was applied to the Crystal Effects.
Because greenery in a wreath is not usually one solid green colour, various green markers were used to colour the stamp. Once the wreath is stamped, then fussy cut it.
