Happy Canada Day – July 1st – Please Vote For My Card
Happy Canada Day
Happy Canada Day! Canada celebrates it’s 148th birthday this year. Canada Day is a national holiday most businesses and schools are closed. This allows everyone to get out and celebrate our wonderful country.
Prior to July 1, 1867, Canada was ruled by Britain and the Queen was the head of state. However, on July 1, 1867, Canada became it’s own federation, with it’s own constitution, and a Prime Minister as the head of state. Although the British Monarchy is still a major part of Canada and it’s people, they do not make our laws. Laws are made in Parliament by elected officials.
I created a birthday card for Canada Day and will be entering it into the Canada Day card contest over at the Paper Garden.
I invite you to click on the link and vote for my card and check out the other amazing cards.

Communities hold celebrations and activities so that people can get out and enjoy themselves and have a happy Canada Day. The activities range from parades, art festivals, parties in the parks, and/or neighbourhood get togethers.
In Kamloops, we have Art in the Park and International Festivities. Art in the Park is for anyone who wants to set up a booth, display and sell their art. There are many talented people that live here. The International Festivities include various activities highlighting cultural dancing, painting, and food. The food is to die for, and if you are not lined up at your favorite ethnic food booth early, you may not get any of the goodies.
Please stop by the Paper Garden and vote for my card.
Happy Canada Day everyone.
HI Karen, hope you enjoyed your Canada Day. I like all the supplies you used for your card, and it is news to me that SU! no longer used the digital program as I have the first version. Thanks for the history lesson too, I met the Queen inside the Hotel Sask. when I was a young girl so that was a big thrill. CHeers 🙂
Hi Beverly, thanks for your comment and I did enjoy my Canada Day. I hope that you had a great time celebrating yours. Yes, I am sad that SU decided to discontinue the digital software but at least I am still able to use it. You lucky person, meeting the Queen. I have only ever seen her on TV. Have a great day.
Isn’t this funtastic? Very cool confetti background!
Thanks for your comment Kathy. I had a fun time creating this card. Have a great day.
Thanks Diane for your comment about my card. It was fun to create. Even though you are worn out, I am sure that you will enjoy your time with the grandchildren. Hugs
Great card, I love the confetti background paper.
Hope you have a great Canada Day
Thanks Tracy. I appreciate your comment and Happy Canada Day back to you.
Karen great card and I’ll be happy to go vote for yours! So perfect to capture all the elements for Canada day: Flag colors, maple leaf, birthday cake, and even the fireworks! Very nice.
I’ve been crazy busy with the grandkids visiting for 3 weeks. Almost worn out! Hugs
Great card! All those Canada Day stamps look fabulous! I haven’t seen them before. I love how you’ve used them on your card!
Thank you Kate for your comment. The stamps are from Stampin’ Up! My Digital Studio software. This software was discontinued June 1st and I really miss the ability to do downloads of the various stamps they provided.
I didn’t realize the software had just been discontinued. That’s a shame!
