Christmas Eve is Here
Christmas Eve is Here
Christmas Eve is here and ready or not Christmas Day is tomorrow. We have been busy over the last few months getting ready for the big day and now it’s time to sit back and enjoy the Christmas eve events that you have planned.
When Christmas eve is here, it’s time for my family tradition of getting together for Christmas dinner. We have been practicing this tradition for years and it makes for a nice relaxing Christmas Day. The hustle and the bustle of getting up, opening gifts, making a special breakfast, tidying up and then getting that big turkey in the oven. And then it was falling into bed exhausted, saying was that Christmas?
As well, as my family grows, it is only fair that time is spent with their extended families – the inlaws, the nieces, the cousins.
It has fallen into a pattern, with my children and their families hosting Christmas Eve dinner every other day. We all share in the food, bringing a dish or 2 with the host family doing a turkey. That way, we are all contributing and no one is bearing all the responsibility of getting the dinner on the table. Even the cook gets to enjoy.
Another way to tell that Christmas Eve is here when it’s time to bring out the new pajamas. My Mom started with tradition with my children when they were little and now that I have grandchildren, I continue to practice that tradition. The kids look forward to the new PJ’s and they know they will have them to wake up on Christmas morning to see what Santa has left under the tree.
What are some of your traditions? Leave me a comment and let me know.
I would like to take this opportunity now to wish you a Very Merry Christmas.
