A Birthday Card
Rain, rain, go away. I certainly wish it would quit raining here….it’s been raining for a week and we live in a semi desert climate? Go figure.
Today’s share is a Birthday card for Lloyd’s Dad.
I used the shaving cream technique to make the tops of the cupcakes. This is an easy technique and fun to do. Maybe a bit messy, but fun all the same. It’s a great technique to use your ink refills and make colours and patterns which give added interest to the design.
It’s “like a box of chocolates, you just never know what you are going to get”. It was Forrest Gump who coined the phrase or something like it.
Stamps: Create a Cupcake (c-$19.95, w-$27.95 P 47, 2012-2013 Catalogue)
Paper: Naturals White, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Well
Worn DSP
Ink: Old Olive, Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Big Shot, Lattice Emboss Folder, Houndstooth Emboss Folder, Bitty Banners Framelits, Heat and Stick Powder, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Cupcake Builder Punch, Summer Smooches Brads
To give it a sparkly look, I used Heat and Stick powder and Dazzling Diamond glitter.
Special Announcement
Over next several weeks, watch for an announcement on my blog of a new program that I am starting. It will be of interest to those who have little time to craft or want to get started crafting. If you live in small town Canada and don’t have access to a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, this will be for you.
Until next time….
Love this, Karen! Looks good enough to eat!! I hope the birthday is wonderful!
Karen how cute. Love the cupcakes and your frosting looks finger lickin’ good. You have more patience than I… I hardly have time for regular techniques, but your shaving cream came out perfect! hugs.
Cute card and terrific embossing! The cupcakes look yummy!
Karen, this is wonderful! I love all those little cupcakes and the design you used is just perfect! LOVE all that embossing too. Very nice!!!
Lynn
Great birthday card. I like the embossing folder you used and the cupcakes look delicious! I hope your rain goes away soon!
If your song works Karen PLEASE don’t send it our way! Once again we have woken to grey, cold and miserable. Dramatic photos in the paper of the landscape at the local beaches being totally changed by the pounding of 12 metre waves that has happened this past week. Wow!
I like the quote you used. I recently used it in a Eulogy and gave out some chocolates too. The minister was delighted and said it was a first for him!
Shaving cream is certainly messy but fun and your card is terrific. Love the embossed surfaces too!
Adorable, Karen! This was the perfect technique to make the frosting for the cupcakes!
