Happy Birthday Fisherman-Create a Card with Best Catch Bundle
Create a Happy Birthday Fisherman card with the Best Catch Bundle. My father loved to fish. In fact, he lived to fish. However, he turned 95 years young and his fishing days are in the distant past. However, over the years, there weren’t baskets of fish brought home to cook. He would sit or stand for hours on the shore or in his boat waiting for the right one to come along. Often we went fishing as a family and he spent more time untangling lines our lines. But, he never complained.
So, when I saw this stamp set and matching dies, I knew I had to have it to create cards for the guys who love to fish. Although when he opened the card, his words were “What kind of fish is this?” I said, “it’s a fish Dad, make it any kind you want”. We did have a laugh.

Tips to Create Greeting Card
- To create the background, swirl Pool Party reinker with water and then apply to Whisper White card stock with Aqua Painter. Do not go over the area too many times or have too much water on your Aqua Painter. If you do, the paper will start to pill. On a scrap piece of Whisper White, do a cross-hatch with the Aqua Painter and Pool Party ink. Set aside to dry. Stamp the bubble stamp over the background.
- Stamp the fish on Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black ink. Die cut with the Big Shot. Color the fish using Stampin’ Blends. You can choose your own colors or use the same ones that I did. Use the Wink of Stella pen to add glimmer to the fish.
- On a piece of Watercolor Paper, do a cross-hatch using Cajun Craze and Old Olive ink. Use the bulrushes and grasses die cut to cut the Vellum, Watercolor Paper and Whisper White.
- Die cut a circle with the Stitched Shapes Die Cuts.
- Attach the Watercolor paper behind the circle, attach the Vellum to the front and then the WHisper White grasses. Layer this on the background. Attach the designer series paper to the card base, and then the art piece. Once the fish is colored, attach the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Cut the fly from multi-colored paper. This piece on my table and I used the oxide metal faux technique. It added a touch of whimsy to the cards.
- Stamp the sentiment on the front.
