A Black and White Wedding Card – Would you give one to the Bride and Groom?

A hand crafted black and white wedding card with a touch of silver glimmer is so elegant.  I don’t get to make wedding cards very often, so I wanted to make this one a WOW card.  And, in my humble opinion, I think I accomplished that.

Here’s what I think of black and white anything.

While there are some that will tell you black and white are not colours, I just find is refreshing, elegant and formal.  Would I do a room decorated in white and black? Maybe if I had the right style of home, although it wouldn’t have any black and white polka dots – I could do stripes, patterned, or solid white and solid black.  I would love a white leather sofa.  Ok, all of this is in my dreams…but where would we be without dreams.

Here is the wedding card I created and again, it was one of those fun cards to make…

Black and White Wedding Card

This card was created using the Pop ‘n Cut base and the Label Pop ‘n Cuts, and the matching envelope was created using Stampin’ Up!’s newest product, the Envelope Punch Board.

Wedding Card with a Double Pop n’ Cut

Wedding cards can be so much fun to create and make.  The card I will share today is for Lloyd’s daughter’s wedding this weekend.  And did I ever have fun making this one.  Yes, it was a little intricate but oh, so much fun!!!

Before I get to showing you the wedding card, I have some Stampin’ Up! news.  The Holiday Catalogue is live today…and with lots of new goodies.  It’s even INTERACTIVE..Wow

Wedding Post

View catalogue products HERE.  Don’t have the catalogue?  Download the PDF or Email me and I will get one to you!

Watch this video and it will show you how to get the Layar app up and running on your i-phone, i-pad and android devices.

When you scan the interactive image in the catalogue, you will be taken to a video that will show you how to use the product…WOW!

Ok, I have more new products to share – I can hardly contain myself but it’s time to get on with the wedding card.

Now, you may ask how the double pop up was done.  This technique was demonstrated at the 2013 Convention by Karen Burniston.  The card stock is doubled and folded in half.  Lay the fold is laid in the middle of the table leg and then cut out with the dress form pop n’ cut.

On the front of the card, one of the new Expression Thinlits Die was used.  The trick to getting this die to cut cleanly and removing the paper from the die is wax paper easy.

When you build your layers for the sandwich:

paper, then 2 layers of wax paper and then the die. Use your paper piercer to poke gently into the small hole on the die and your paper will pop right out!

Thank yous are so important.

We all love to receive a thank you from someone that we have done something for.  It could be as small as saying thanks for passing the salt, or it could be that you have gone above and beyond for someone.  And of course between the little thanks and the huge “gone above and beyond thank you, there is always someone that has helped you out.

We tend to send Thank You cards for the large events in our lives but wouldn’t it be nice to send a Thank You to someone who was just there at a particular moment in time.  Maybe it was a retail clerk, or a server in a restaurant or maybe even the person who helped you with the groceries out to the car.

There are big elaborate thank you cards but why not keep a few little thank you cards in your purse to give to people on the spot.  It’s a great way to recognize people.

My card share today is a cup of thanks using the Tea Shoppe stamp set.  As soon I as I saw the Pop ‘n Cut die, I had this stamp set in mind to use to create a card.

Thank You

Stamps: Tea Shoppe (c – 125547, w- 125545, p57 2012/13 Annual Catalogue)

Paper: Indigo Island, So Saffron, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Teas for Two DSP

Ink: Early Espresso, Island Indigo

Accessories: Big Shot, Card Base Pop ‘n Cuts, Dress Form Pop ‘n Cuts,  Label Framelits, Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch ,Markers:  Lucky Limeade, So Saffron, Early Espresso, Island Indigo, Versamark, White Embossing Powder, Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon, Tea Time Trinkets, Tea Bag

Tea Shoppe - Clear-Mount Stamp

Clear Mount – 122547 Wood Mount – 122545
Click on image to view stamp set – 10 Stamps

Just a few things about how I put the inside of this card together.

A piece of Early Espresso was run through the portion of the die cut where the dress form cut out is located. This piece was then attached to the bottom of the dress for to appear as a table.

Two cup images where stamped, one in versamark and embossed with white embossing powder and the other stamped with So Saffron ink.  After fussy cutting the two images, they were attached together along the handles, sides and bottom.  Do not glue the tops together.

Attach the cup to the die cut portion and trim the dress form behind the cup.  Trim only as much as you need so that it cannot be seen.

Insert a tea bag into the cup and send it off.

I know that this card is rather fussy with all that is going on, however a thank you card can be a clean and simple card.  Actually it’s the thought that counts and not necessarily the card, although it is tangible.

So thank someone today  – big or small

Happy Stamping!

Pop ‘n Cuts Dies for the Big Shot are a great way to show case your Mother’s Day cards. I am just loving this new die, the matching All Dressed Up stamp set and the framelits.

There are so many ideas that you can incorporate for the front of the card and then it’s easy to also decorate the inside of the card.  So often we forget about the inside.  So for display purposes, the recipient of the card has the choice to either display the front or the inside.

Flowers are always a favourite gift for Mother’s Day and so why not put them on the front of the card. They will last for a very long time and bring back the memories of the gift and the celebrations of Mother’s Day.  What about Easter?  There is a lily image in this set that would be perfect for an Easter card and then there is the daisy to celebrate Spring.  The possibilities are endless with this stamp set.

I used a great technique on this card to make the flowers appear to be delicate and airy.  First the flower images were stamped with Versamark on Sahara Sand and embossed with White Embossing Powder.  After the flowers were cut using the Secret Garden Die Cuts, the petals were painted with Whisper White Craft ink and the Aqua Painter.  You will need to let the craft ink dry but if you are impatient, use your Heat Gun.

Next, using the markers and the Blender Pens to color the petals.  It is fairly easy to shade the petals where the shadows may lie.  Start with the dark colour and then blend out to the middle and end of the petal.

All Dressed Up Pop 'n Cuts

Card Inside

The sweater was cut using the All Dressed Up Framelit and cropping the bottom part of the dress and cutting down the middle and adhering to the dress.  Rhinestones were added for some bling and of course a flower punched with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and a rhinestone in the middle sets off the full outfit.  Ohhlala!!

Stamps: Secret Garden (c – 129144, w- 129141, p17 2013 Spring Catalogue),

Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party, Island Indigo, Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade, Sycamore Street DSP

Ink: Whisper White Craft, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade

Accessories: Big Shot, Secret Garden Framelit Dies, Card Base Pop ‘n Cuts , Dress Form Pop ‘n Cuts, Dress Up Framelits, Lattice Bigz Die, Little Leave Sizzlits, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder,  Versamark, White Embossing Powder, Markers: Island Indigo, Calypso Coral, Summer Starfruit, Itty Bitty Punch Pack, Rhinestones, Blender Pen, Aqua Painter.

Dressed Up?  Yes, Stampin’ Up! released a brand new die cut in their Spring 2013 catalogue.  It’s the Pop ‘n Cuts to be used with the All Dressed Up stamp and framelit dies.  It’s like playing dress up and cut out dolls at the same time.  The grown up version.

The card base Pop ‘n’ Cuts is magnetic and you can insert the Pop ‘n Cuts Dress Form inside the base to cut a fun pop-up card.

Once you get the base and the dress form assembled you can make a multitude of different dresses with the All Dressed Up stamp set and framelit dies.  Change out the card stock, the designer series papers and the ink and you have a whole new dress.  How about adding some embellishments to make them look like accessories, a ribbon for a belt, rhinestones and pearls for necklaces, or a flower pin to wear on the dress.

The possibilities are endless!

What’s also neat about this Pop ‘n Cuts base is that you can use it on its own to make different types of cards and fancy folds.

Plus by using your imagination you can create other types of pop-up using the mechanism from the Dress Form Pop ‘n Cuts Die.  Maybe a Birthday Cake that pops out, or a bouquet of flowers.  What other types of things can you think of?

I have made a couple of different types of cards and I will share over the next week or so.

This is the first one:
