Remember a Friend
To remember a friend with a sympathy card to their family is to honour them and your friendship. It’s always difficult to create these cards and it seems like I have had to create too many lately.
When I create a sympathy card, I try to focus on the person and their family. To loose a friend is difficult but for the family, having to live through the sickness and final passing is extremely difficult.
My friend was witty with a wonderful sense of humour, a talented musician, a loving husband, father and grandfather. For me, I will miss the jokes, the funny sayings and the banter.
I chose the Lotus Blossom stamp set as for me, this flower represents life, tenacity, inspiration and love. For me, this is how I remember a friend.
Stamps: Lotus Blossom, Papillon Potpourri, Bloom with Hope.
Ink/Markers: Lost Lagoon, Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette.
Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy, Lost Lagoon, Flower Pot DSP, Vellum.
Accessories: Big Shot, Spring Flowers Embossing Folder, Circle Collection, 2-1/2” Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Modern Label Punch, Painted Blooms Cotton Twine (white), and Pearl Jewels.
Embossing the vellum with the Spring Flowers Embossing Folder really added some texture to the card and the diagonal panel added interest and a shot of the unexpected.
The white Painted Blooms Cotton Twine was twisted and laid behind the focal image and held with a piece of adhesive. It added a bit of whimsey as did the butterflies.
The Lotus Bloom stamp is a 3-step stamp from 2015 Sale-a-Bration and I used only Lost Lagoon ink. The first step used full strength ink, the second step used the ink stamped off 1 time and for the 3rd step, the ink was stamped off 2 times.
The next time you need to create a sympathy card, remember a friend as you are creating.
